Women's Support Circle

I’m currently inviting participants to join a small, supportive group for women who want to share, reflect, and grow together through the changes that come with aging. This group will be a space for honest conversation, mutual support, and discovering meaning in this phase of life. If this speaks to you, I’d love to hear from you. There will be a brief screening conversation to be sure it’s the right fit—for you and for the group. Please email me  or call 415-496-9033 to schedule a call.

About the Group

Our group is intentionally small (limited to 8 women) and committed, meeting in person every other week for 90 minutes. With a focus on peer support, each meeting will be facilitated by Chloé Martin, a licensed psychologist with years of experience facilitating groups.

Who is eligible to participate in the group?

This group is for women 65 and over.

How will group members be selected?

To ensure a supportive and safe space, we ask all interested participants to undergo a brief screening interview. This is to ensure compatibility within the group and to make sure that everyone is in a good place to engage in meaningful conversations. Women with severe mental health concerns may not be suitable for this group, as it is focused on peer support rather than clinical treatment.

Where will the group meet?

Our meetings will be held in a psychotherapy office with comfortable seating.  The location is in San Rafael on Lincoln Avenue, and further details will be given to participants upon registration.

When will the group meet?

The Women's Support Circle will meet every other week on Thursday afternoons from 4:30pm-6:00pm.  (Starting Thursday, September 11)

What is the cost?

The cost for each session is $50, and we ask for a $100 payment upfront each month.  We ask that you make a commitment to attend all the sessions, and if you are not able to, your payment holds your spot in the group.  Your investment in the group will help us maintain a high level of quality and care in our sessions.

Are the sessions covered by insurance?

Support Group sessions are not covered by insurance, as this group is not intended for treating medical conditions, but rather for providing peer support with expert facilitation.

Do I have to attend every meeting?

As a group, we will aim to create a space where women can connect authentically and meaningfully, with the understanding that consistency and commitment are vital to the success of the group. We understand that sometimes unavoidable circumstances arise, but we ask you to make every effort to prioritize coming to the group, and let the group know when you will be unable to attend. There will be pre-planned times when the group will pause for one or more sessions.

What are group norms or behavioral expectations for group members?

What types of issues will be discussed?

We believe that true connection and growth can only happen when there is a sense of safety and respect in the group. To ensure that, we ask that participants agree to the following group norms:

  • Confidentiality: What's shared in the group stays in the group.

  • Speak from the heart: Share your experiences and feelings honestly.

  • Listen with compassion and curiosity: We honor each other's experiences and listen without judgment.

  • Treat others with kindness and respect: Every participant deserves to feel heard and valued.

  • Refrain from giving unsolicited advice: We trust that each of us  holds the wisdom and guidance we need within ourselves.

The topics we explore will be shaped by the group itself—by what participants bring, what they’re curious about, and what feels most alive and important in the moment. While there will be some guiding themes, each session will be responsive to the needs, experiences, and questions of those present.

Some areas we may touch on include:

  • The emotional, physical, and spiritual challenges of aging, and the unexpected opportunities for growth, creativity, and connection.

  • Navigating stress, developing soothing practices, and creating daily routines that support well-being.

  • Coping with physical changes, illness, disability, or cognitive shifts, and the sense of vulnerability these may bring.

  • Shifting identity, breaking down internalized ageism, and exploring expectations we’ve carried about what aging “should” look like.

  • Finding joy, awe, and meaning—and recognizing what truly matters at this stage of life.

  • Talking about mortality, loss, and how to face these realities with openness and community.

  • Relationships and sexuality as we age—how they change, deepen, or surprise us.

  • Reflecting on what we’ve learned, what we didn’t expect, and how we can honor our own wisdom.
